Black Voices MidAmerica Tour Testimonies From February- March
Marlon From Xavier University -
At the Xavier stop of the tour, something unexpected happened just before Marlon began leading altar call worship. He suddenly felt a sharp pain in his back—something he hadn’t experienced before. It surprised him, but he remembered testimonies of people feeling pain as a way God highlights someone He wants to heal. Later that night, during ministry time, Marlon stepped out in faith and asked if anyone had been dealing with sharp back pain. Immediately, a girl responded—she said she’d been experiencing the exact pain he described for about a week and was planning to see a doctor. They prayed for healing… and right afterward, she said the pain was completely gone. God is still healing. He’s still speaking. And He’s still moving in power today!
Evangelism in Houston - Kambria ( DTS Student)
During an evangelism time that had to be shortened and combined with lunch, Kambria was honestly just focused on eating—she was tired and hungry. But as she was looking for something to eat, God highlighted a girl working at a little pop-up stand.
Kambria walked over and started a conversation with her. The girl was a Christian, and right away, she began opening up about a situation she was walking through. In that moment, the Lord gave Kambria His heart for her—and a word.
Kambria asked if she could pray, and as she prayed, it became so clear that the Lord was calling this young woman higher and into something more. When they finished, the girl was in tears. She said she had been feeling this way for so long, praying for confirmation—and the word Kambria shared was exactly what she had been asking God to reveal.
It was such a powerful moment—first, seeing how God shifted Kambria’s heart from being tired and hungry to being available and full of compassion. And second, witnessing the Lord touch this girl and confirm something deeply personal she had been carrying in prayer. God is so faithful!
Deja (DTS Student) at Grambling State University
“During one of our Brave Love stops at Grambling, I was asked to share my testimony. Before speaking, I asked the Lord if there was anything specific He wanted me to highlight, and He revealed two things, giving me permission to be extremely vulnerable about them.
Before the event started, a girl who worked in the building came into the room to ask when we would be finished, as she needed to clean the space afterward. Darby let her know the timing but also invited her to stay if she wanted. She decided to stay.
As soon as I saw her, the Lord highlighted her to me. While sharing my testimony, I knew the specific things He had me emphasize were meant for her. Afterward, I had the chance to do Original Design with her, pray with her, and get to know more about her life.
As we talked, the Lord made it clear to me that she had not fully given her life to Him. But at that moment, we had to come back together as a group. After our debrief and prayer, I pulled her aside and asked about her relationship with the Lord. She shared that she and her mom had gone to church when she was younger, but they eventually stopped. Later, she downloaded the Bible app, but then deleted it—that was the extent of her faith journey.
I asked if she had ever heard the Gospel before, and she hadn’t. So I shared it with her, and she was so excited to give her life to Jesus. I got to pray with her and witness how intentional the Lord is in stopping for the one—even in the middle of a Brave Love event.”
Kāmbria Hawkins (DTS Student) at the University of Houston
“We were at the University of Houston and we were doing our first bit of worship when I saw this girl touching her shoulder and rotating it. So I asked her if she had pain in her shoulder and turns out it was chronic back pain that she had from the army and it was going from her lower back up to her arm. So we started praying and I prayed for God to come and heal her. After I asked how she felt and she was like “oh it’s kinda gone” and so I asked if she could test it and when she did she realized she had no more pain!!! It was actually so funny because the more she tested it the more she realized God had healed her. Then she realized the headache she had was also gone! It was so cool watching her realize that God is a physical healer and in literally a moment she got healed!! “
